OKAY PISSED OFF Okay, if anyone cares, and i don't hide any illusions that anyone does, people piss me off. I ama judgemental person, don't get me wrong, but i try to at least meet the person first before i judge them. So this is to respond to mike young, and egotistical english major. Within one week i will have posted on "Talking to Oneself" a essay on "Allusions in POetics". I am not saying that i am right, but if you take your head out of your ass you will see that i am 99.999999998% positive about the use of allusions in Poetry. Enjoy. I will not be posting until then, but i will have a interesting morphetic poem on "Talking to Oneself" tommorrow.

I'm sorry you're pissed off, Thomas. Seriously, dude: I wasn't trying to insult you or demean you or devalue your ideas.
You're right: all poetry is allusive and associative. All language is allusive and associative.
All I meant was that I found allusions designed to signal one's awareness of the literary canon (the kind of allusions you find lurking in countless poems from university journals with flowers or old architecture on the cover) tiring and silly. I think, in this day and age, that they're usually mean and elitist.
Maybe not intentionally, like: "oh goody, I'm going to screw everyone who hasn't heard of Adonis and Ixion’s wheel by mentioning them directly without any support." But somewhere in there is a lack of compassion for those excluded.
Which I don't think is good for poetry.
So, again, seriously, I apologize for not making myself more clear and for being too Puckish (heh) of an asshole.
Within one week i will have posted on "Talking to Oneself" a essay on "Allusions in POetics".
PLEASE DON'T!
